The Buffalo Bills have 10 draft picks during the 2024 NFL Draft but eight of them are on Day 3 as the Bills have only their first and second-round picks this year. Currently, they don't have a third-round pick because they traded it to the Packers for Rasul Douglas and didn't get the expected third-round compensatory pick.

Based on Brandon Beane's history as general manager for the Buffalo Bills, he is not afraid to make trades during the NFL Draft. While the Bills need depth, there are a few key areas that they have to address and more importantly, find players that have a good chance to make an impact this upcoming season.

The Bills have plenty of Day 3 picks that they can use to move up if there is a player on the board that they want. However, they could also look to trade some players during the three day event and one player that makes plenty of sense is a former first-round pick of the Bills.

Buffalo Bills should look to trade cornerback Kaiir Elam during 2024 NFL Draft

After having to release as many players as they did, there aren't many left on the roster that could be considered to be on the trade block. One player though that might be able to bring back a decent return is cornerback Kaiir Elam.

He was selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft at a time when the Bills were desperate to add a cornerback. The position wasn't a surprise but the player certainly was as Elam has primarily been a cornerback who excels in man coverage but the Bills predominantly play zone.

Over the past two years, Elam has struggled to get on the field with only 16 games played to begin his career. Most of last season, Elam was a healthy scratch which is a big indication that the coaching staff is not confident he can contribute if he has to get on the field.

He will only be 23 years old this upcoming season and could be a contributor in the right defense. However, that is not in Buffalo and the fact the Bills are unlikely to pick up his fifth year option or extend him past his rookie contract, this is the offseason that they probably can get the most value in return in a trade.
