The 2023 NFL Draft was two weeks ago and this weekend the coaching staff will get their first chance to see their draft picks up close during the rookie minicamp. In addition to the draft picks, the Bills announced Friday morning they have signed seven players who were undrafted free agents.
This group of players includes:
- DT DJ Dale (Alabama)
- T Richard Gouraige (Florida)
- RB Jordan Mims (Fresno State)
- WR Tyrell Shavers (San Diego State)
- WR Bryan Thompson (Arizona State)
- WR Jalen Wayne (South Alabama)
- WR Braydon Johnson (Oklahoma State)
Focus for the Buffalo Bills continues to be on the offensive side of the ball
This offseason, the offense has been the main focus for the Buffalo Bills' front office with a number of free agent signings like offensive guard Connor McGovern, running back Damien Harris, and wide receivers Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield.
That trend continued into the 2023 NFL Draft as the Bills would use four of their six draft picks on offensive players and now with this recent announcement, they have added six more players to their offense.
The fact that they have added four wide receivers is rather notable and could be an indication that they are concerned about the depth at the position. This group includes Jalen Wayne, who is the cousin of former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne.
While the majority of players are on the offensive side of the ball, defensive tackle DJ Dale may end up having the best chance to make the 53-man roster. He was a starting defensive tackle for the Alabama Crimson Tide but he has the ability to be a rotational player at the position in the future. The Buffalo Bills don't have any defensive tackles under contract past this season and Dale could find himself playing a bigger role as soon as 2024.
