Earlier in the week, the Arizona Cardinals agreed to release tight end Zach Ertz to give him a chance to land with a contender. The former Pro Bowl tight end is getting towards the end of his career and it would make sense for him to want to try and get one more Super Bowl ring.

Ertz would clear waivers on Friday and not shortly after the rumors began to fly about where he might end up next. According to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, the Buffalo Bills are among four teams interested in the veteran, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Kansas City Chiefs.

Buffalo Bills should be considered a long-shot to sign Zach Ertz

While the Buffalo Bills were listed as one of the teams interested in Ertz, they are probably fourth among the teams. Ertz spent most of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and that is a natural fit for him to return with Dallas Goedert on injured reserve.

The Chiefs are interesting as they already have Travis Kelce but Andy Reid is very creative and would have a plan how to utilize both. Meanwhile the best landing spot, in terms of Super Bowl chances and workload, would be the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens are one of the best teams in the AFC and just lost their All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews for at least the rest of the regular season. He has an outside chance to return if the Ravens make a run in the playoffs but in the mean time, Ertz would be the primary tight end in an offense that has leaned on the position.

At one time, Zach Ertz looked like he would be a member of the Buffalo Bills as the team was in trade talks with the Eagles back in 2021. Ertz himself even said it was almost a done deal but the trade would fall through and he would end up going to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Bills offense is much different now than two years ago as the Bills have an excellent tight end in Dalton Kincaid and the hope is Dawson Knox could be returning shortly, potentially even after the bye. If Knox is not able to return soon, Ertz could make sense but it seems unlikely at this point.
