Deonte Harty

The final player is one that I personally don't think should be cut but there is enough reasoning for it to be the move. Deonte Harty was signed as a free agent to give the Bills stability on special teams but also be a big-play threat for the offense and fill the gadget role that Isaiah McKenzie had for a few years.

In terms of his play on punt return, it has been as good as expected with an average close to 10 yards per punt return this season. He did unfortunately have a fumble in the game against the Chargers but has for the most part been consistent.

However, he has not played much on offense and if the Bills want to add a wide receiver like Justin Shorter to give them some size, then Harty would be the odd man out. This then raises the question of who would return punts and that probably would be Khalil Shakir.

Earlier this season against the Eagles, Deonte Harty was a healthy scratch with the Bills calling up Andy Isabella and in that game it was Shakir returning punts. He would finish the game with five punt returns but did have a fumble on one of them.

The Buffalo Bills probably will look at the first three players before releasing Deonte Harty but it also would likely be a conversation within the front office and coaching staff.
