Greg Rousseau

With the Buffalo Bills selecting Greg Rousseau in the first round, they will have to make a key decision this offseason. Since he was a first round pick, every team has the option to pick up a fifth year on their rookie contract and that would keep him under contract through the 2025 season.

That decision has to be made some time by the beginning of May but does have significant salary cap implications. The fifth year is a fully guaranteed salary that according to Over the Cap will be in the range of $13.7 million.

While the Bills do have to make the decision this offseason about the fifth-year option, they can work out a contract extension between now and the season that would lower that cap hit and extend the salary out.

Rousseau has been good but not great in his first three seasons with 17 sacks and 42 QB hits to begin his career. If the Bills are hoping to sign him to an extension they are going to have to get close to a Top 10 salary and that is the contract I would expect the two sides to agree to.

Projected Contract: 4 years, $75 million
