Honorable mentions: Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley

The only reason why Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley are on this list is because both players failed to reach a long-term deal with their respective teams and now their futures are uncertain.

Jacobs, who was the league’s leading rusher in 2022, is seeking a long-term deal after being the driving force for the Raiders’ offense. With Barkley, without him in the Giants offense, they do not move the ball. Barkley had a bounce back year in 2022 after dealing with various injuries.

Both of these players will have a big decision to make on whether or not they choose to report to the team prior to week one. Both players do have some leverage in this stalemate, but the running back position is depreciated in the NFL.

Overall, unless one team decides to give their respective running back the money they want, it is very likely that these players are not seen in uniform. These situations will be very important to monitor as the season approaches.
