4 Buffalo Bills players who won't survive training camp
By Ryan Heckman
As the Buffalo Bills progress through 2023 training camp, we're seeing some intense battles taking place at certain positions.
This is a team that is intent on winning a Super Bowl this season, and one of just a few franchises that can legitimately have that hope.
As they're in the thick of camp practices, though, some things are starting to become clearer. Certain positions seem to be much more defined than others. Because of that, there are four players we see that might not survive the remainder of training camp and make it onto the final roster.
1. Joel Wilson, TE
It is no secret that the Bills plan to use a lot more 12 personnel this year after having drafted Dalton Kincaid in the first round. Both Kincaid and Dawson Knox will be operating as a valuable 1-2 punch for the offense. After spending the first bit of the offseason looking for one more offensive weapon to sign or draft, Kincaid wound up being Buffalo's guy. So, the tight end position became a much bigger deal than it was previously.
Behind those two, Quintin Morris and Jace Sternberger fighting for the third spot. Sternberger has been impressive in camp after just recently being signed, so this battle could be closer than some might think.
Going a bit further down the depth chart, undrafted free agent Joel Wilson out of Central Michigan is the fifth tight end in line and won't be lucky enough to survive camp. He's too far behind in pecking order and not as talented as those in front of him. It's a pretty black and white situation for the former Chippewa, and hopefully he can catch on elsewhere after Buffalo inevitably cuts ties.
