Running Backs

The running game put up 130 yards on the ground but did not get in the endzone. James Cook tied his career high in carries with 17 carries for 73 yards, averaging over 4 yards a carry. Backup running back Latavius Murray added on 35 yards off of 10 carries.

Then Ty Johnson, who has not seen a ton of action this season had just 3 carries for 11 yards, but he did lose yardage at one point so he would have finished with more. The Bills did manage to run the ball effectively, but the Jets have usually contained the run game of the Bills. Buffalo only averaged just over 3 yards per carry throughout the game.

It is a good thing that the passing game managed to get going often because the run game was not what fans may have pictured going into this game. The running backs were actually utilized more in the passing game rather than carrying the rock.
