The NFL Combine is in the rearview mirror and the Buffalo Bills are not turning their focus to free agency, which is less than two weeks away. However, first the Bills are going to have to get under the salary cap, and over the weekend it was reported the team is ready to release their first play of the offseason.

Buffalo Bills Rumors: Nyheim Hines reportedly to be released this week

Nyheim Hines had one of the most memorable plays in Buffalo Bills history when he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown against the New England Patriots. This was the first game, and the very first play, since Damar Hamlin suffered his injury against the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, it appears that Hines won't have the chance to give Bills' fans any more of those memories. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bills are going to release Hines this week after he missed all of last season after suffering an ACL injury prior to training camp.

The move was somewhat expected because of the salary cap savings, which is roughly $4.6 million with only $500,000 in dead cap. The downside is that it does really impact the depth at running back as the Bills now have only James Cook and Darrynton Evans under contract currently. The Bills likely will be able to find other options but it creates another need for the front office to address.
