Buffalo Bills News: Mike Edwards agrees to a one-year deal with the Bills

The Bills have been doing their work on the safety position as they had free agent Julian Blackmon in for a visit earlier this week. The former Colts' safety would end up leaving without a contract but the Bills would still end up with a safety after agreeing to a one-year deal with Mike Edwards.

Edwards would be a third round pick by the Bucs in the 2019 NFL Draft and start 23 games over the first four years in the NFL. This past season he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and while he began the year as the backup, he stepped in as a starter towards the end due to injuries.

For his career, he has 235 total tackles, eight interceptions, 26 passes defended and four defensive touchdowns. He also has a lot of playoff experience with seven starts and 11 playoff games played in his five years in the league.

The addition of Edwards now gives the Bills a clear answer for replacing Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer with Taylor Rapp as the other starting safety. However, it doesn't necessarily stop them from drafting a safety if one were to fall.
