Buffalo Bills doubted to meet expectations in 2024 by CBS Sports writer
By Brandon Ray
There are mixed emotions when it comes to the Buffalo Bills heading into the 2024 season. Some people are still high believers in what the Bills can bring to the table, while others are expecting a step backwards from where they have been the last four seasons. Buffalo lost a lot of notable players who have been on the roster going back to 2017, but Brandon Beane has delivered young players who can develop under Sean McDermott’s coaching staff that has two young coordinators in Joe Brady and Bobby Babich.
While Bills Mafia should be big believers of what McDermott can do, Shanna McCarriston from CBS Sports is not one of those believers.
McCarriston listed the Bills as a team that will underperform next season. McCarriston mentions that the Bills have one of the highest ceilings that was never truly reached, which included making just one conference championship in the 2020 season. That is a valid argument, considering the fact who the Bills lost this offseason with key players. However, there is one thing that is mentioned that does not make a ton of sense as to why the Bills could struggle.
It is mentioned how the Bills are facing a potentially dangerous New York Jets team that will have Aaron Rodgers back as well facing off against a strong Miami Dolphins squad. When it comes to the Jets, they seem to always have some bad luck hit them. They do have one of the best defensive units in the league but there is no promise as to what the offense can do because we haven’t seen anything up to this point other than four plays in the beginning of last season.
As far as the Dolphins, Buffalo has dominated Miami since Josh Allen arrived. The Bills have only lost two times to the Dolphins since 2018 and as long as Tua Tagovailoa continues to struggle against Buffalo, there should be no worries about Miami.
The Bills are in a position where they are going to have to prove their doubters wrong and while it will not be an easy journey, anything is possible when your quarterback is Josh Allen.
