With how this season played out, it seemed almost improbable to think the Buffalo Bills could win their fourth straight AFC East. At one point, the Bills were 6-6 on the season while the Dolphins were 9-3 at the same point.

However, the Bills have gone on to win four straight games to move to 10-6, including a win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. Meanwhile the Dolphins have gone 2-2 over the past four games which included a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and enter the final week of the regular season at 11-5.

The two teams are scheduled to play Week 18 in Miami and with the Bills winning the first matchup, back in Week 4, the winner of the game next week will win the AFC East and secure at least one home playoff game.

Buffalo Bills have chance to win fourth straight AFC East

The AFC East for roughly two decades ran through New England with Tom Brady and the Patriots dominating the division. However, since Brady's departure in 2020 the Buffalo Bills have dominated the division.

The Buffalo Bills have won three straight division titles and it hasn't been particularly close during that stretch. The Bills at times have seen teams close the gap, like the Patriots in 2020 and the Dolphins last year. However, the division title is usually locked up before the last week of the season as Buffalo has had 13 wins (2020), 11 wins (2021), and 13 wins (2022) during that stretch. If the Bills win on Sunday, they will finish the year with 12 wins.

Entering Week 18, they are behind the Dolphins in the standings and need a win to win the division. However, a win would mean a home game for the Bills and could end up resulting in them finishing as high as second in the AFC playoffs.
