The Buffalo Bills started the 2023 season with a preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts in Highmark Stadium. It was the only home preseason game they have this season and will go on the road next weekend to play the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While the win was nice, these games are more about roster evaluation and trying to find the best 53 players for the upcoming season. These are my latest 53-man roster projections with a few surprises and also some tough decisions.

Quarterback (2)

Josh Allen, Kyle Allen

Entering the preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, the backup position wasn't given too much thought as Kyle Allen looked to be the backup and Matt Barkley might not make the 53-man roster but would almost certainly return on the practice squad.

However, after the game Saturday it is hard to deny that this might be more of a position battle than initially thought. Sean McDermott even confirmed as much by saying it is an open competition. For now, I am going to stick with my initial thought but that could drastically change depending on what happens in the next preseason game.
