Buffalo Bills sign free agent Taylor Rapp
The Buffalo Bills were able to re-sign Jordan Poyer this offseason and this was one of the best moves the team made. They have an established duo at the position with Poyer and Micah Hyde that is going to be a strength of this secondary.
However, they would also add Taylor Rapp on a one-year deal which was one of the more underrated moves of the offseason. During Poyer and Hyde's time with the Buffalo Bills they proved to be very durable and rarely missed any games.
That unfortunately changed last season with Micah Hyde suffering a season-ending neck injury and Poyer missing a number of games over the course of the season. The addition of Rapp gives Buffalo a veteran presence behind these two that can step in if either starter misses time this season.
However, if Taylor Rapp doesn't even play a snap this move has some added benefits. The reason being that Hyde is entering the final year of his deal and Poyer isn't necessarily a long-term answer at the position.
By bringing in Rapp this offseason, it gives him time to learn the defense and the coaching staff to get familiar with the former second round pick. He could be a potential replacement in the starting lineup and if that is the case it gives him a jump start learning the defense.
