4.) Will the running game become more utilized?
In the first half of the Sunday night game, the Bills’ run-attack was nonexistent. It was a lot of play action and lined up in the shotgun formation which was questionable seeing as how the Giants’ run defense came into this game in the bottom five of the league.
It was the second half in which the Bills were seen running the ball, giving James Cook 14 carries for 71 yards. Latavius Murray also managed to get double digit carries (12) for 45 yards. Overall, the Bills managed to run for 128 yards, but there were patterns in which the Bills would run effectively on back-to-back plays and then abandon the run.
While it has been a good adjustment to take away the carries from Allen to avoid injury, the Bills run game has been up and down this season so far. The Patriots will be looking to limit the run to make Allen go through the air.
