Among all of the players from last year's team who are set to be free agents, it wouldn't be surprising if A.J. Epenesa ends up with the biggest contract. The Buffalo Bills former second round pick has been good, not great, over the past two seasons but at only 25 years old he still has a lot of upside.
When considering he also plays a premium position as a pass rusher, which teams desperately are looking for, it makes sense for him to get a big contract that may not reflect what he has done but what he could develop into and be a key part of a defense.
These are four teams that could be competing with the Buffalo Bills to sign A.J. Epenesa in free agency.
Atlanta Falcons
In 2022, the Atlanta Falcons had one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL with only 21 sacks all season. This past year, they were significantly better as they doubled that total to 42 but still ranked in the bottom third in the league in that category.
Calais Campbell, who tied with Bud Dupree for the team lead in sacks, is set to be a free agent and is also an older player. If the Falcons want to add some youth to the position, A.J. Epenesa could be a great fit here. The Falcons could still bring back Campbell along with Epenesa and have a good three-man rush with Dupree.
