Reason Number 2: The Departure of Devin Singletary

Devin Singletary hit free agency and signed with the Houston Texans this past offseason, which moves Cook up the depth chart. Although Cook would be sharing some carries with free agent acquisition Damien Harris throughout the season, it still wouldn't be a huge blow to Cook's carry count. Harris is more of a bruising back that will likely be used in short-yardage situations, while Cook is more versatile and will likely be used in long-yardage and passing situations.

Cook was also seen with the first team offense a whole lot more than Harris was during training camp, as well as making lots of big plays. He showcased his speed and explosiveness which was on display during his rookie year.

This should give Ken Dorsey and other members of the Bills coaching staff all of the more confidence to help the Bills offense reach its full potential. Especially in the running game, which wasn't very bad at a statistical standpoint last year when you look at the team's total in rushing statistics, but Josh Allen was almost the teams leading rusher, which can be seen as a good and bad thing from certain perspectives.
