Buffalo Bills: 4 players who could be surprises on 53-man roster
Travin Howard
After Matt Milano, the linebacker position has plenty of question marks that make this one position group that is very hard to predict. For most of preseason, the team has had Tyrel Dodson and A.J. Klein competing for the starting middle linebacker position however Terrel Bernard hasn't been able to factor into the discussion due to an injury.
The good news is that Bernard appears close to returning based on what Brandon Beane said during the preseason game against the Chicago Bears, according to Maddy Glab. In addition to Bernard, rookie Dorian Williams missed the final preseason game due to an injury. Then during the game, Baylon Spector suffered a hamstring injury that is considered 'week-to-week'.
The Bills have three players who I considered to be locks in Matt Milano, Dorian Williams, and Tyler Matakevich. However, with the injuries and the struggles the rest seems to be up for grabs which creates an opportunity for someone like Travin Howard to make the 53-man roster.
He joined the Bills as a free agent this offseason and only started two games over the first three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. However, he did start two games in the playoffs during the Rams Super Bowl run. In addition, he has played over 550 special team snaps.
Howard has played well this preseason and if he demonstrates he can contribute on special teams, he has a real chance of making the 53-man roster.
