The Buffalo Bills are going to have to make significant cuts to their roster over the next two days and they began that process on Sunday. The team released seven players which included tight end Jace Sternberger and linebacker DaShaun White.

These players were unlikely to make the 53-man roster based on how the summer has played out. However, the team might still have a few surprises up their sleeves, particularly those who find their way onto the 53-man roster.

Let's take a look at some players who were on the roster bubble but might have done enough to convince the team to keep them.

Darrynton Evans

Over the past few years, the Buffalo Bills have had four running backs on their 53-man roster but one of those spots was for Taiwan Jones. The veteran running back primarily played only special teams but the Bills didn't bring him back this offseason.

Over the course of the preseason, three running backs look to be locks to make the roster with James Cook, Damien Harris, and Latavius Murray. However, the team doesn't really have a player who brings a skill set similar to Cook, particularly as a receiver out of the backfield.

That is why Darrynton Evans has a chance to make the 53-man roster because after Cook he might be the best receiving back on the roster. He can also help on special teams as a returner to backup Deonte Harty, especially if Andy Isabella is cut.
