Buffalo Bills Week 1 Grades: Plenty of failing grades against the Jets
Running Back
There was not many positives to take from the Buffalo Bills offense on Monday night against the New York Jets but James Cook is probably one of those examples. He is entering this season with the chance to be the starter and looked good in that role with 12 carries for 46 yards with four receptions for 17 yards.
The stat line doesn't really jump out but watching that game it seemed like it was only a matter of time before he broke a big run. The explosiveness he showed last season remained on display in this game and he should have a productive season.
As for the other running backs, Damien Harris and Latavius Murray were good complements to Cook with Murray running it twice for eight yards with one reception for nine yards and Harris carrying it once for three yards with two receptions for 16 yards.
One thing to note from this game is that late in the game it was Murray who was on the field. The coaching staff may have wanted the experience of Murray in that situation or could be a trend moving forward of an even more expanded role.
