One of the unfortunate news that has been hitting the Buffalo Bills is the injuries that they are dealing with early on in training camp and now from their first preseason game. The Bills have caught the injury bug throughout the roster at various positions. In training camp, the safety room suffered some losses with Mike Edwards and Cole Bishop. With the first preseason game against the Bears in the past, the Bills are faced with even more injuries.
Quarterback Shane Buechele and now wide receiver Chase Claypool have been placed on the IR, which ends their season before it even starts. To be fair, Buechele was not going to make the 53-man roster but his injury made the Bills scramble to bring in a quarterback for the rest of training camp. Buffalo ended up signing quarterback Ben Dinucci. Then the IR tag once again came into play with Claypool who was looking to turn his career around with the Bills.
Claypool was a surprise signing for the Bills but Buffalo must have tried to get a low-risk, high-reward setup from Claypool. Now they will get nothing from him. The Bills would then sign wide receivers Damiere Byrd and Deon Cain to help bring as much stability as possible to this wide receiver room.
Chase Claypool’s injury adds more concerns from Bills’ offseason
Buffalo received a lot of criticism this offseason because of how their wide receiver room has turned out. They lost Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, while also releasing Deonte Harty. As replacements, the Bills brought in guys like Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool, and they drafted Keon Coleman. Now they are down Claypool, and Valdes-Scantling have been quiet up to this point who could be in roster trouble.
The Bills have one of the best quarterbacks in the league with Josh Allen. It doesn’t feel like there is a lot of confidence going into this year because Buffalo is already down a true “star” receiver and now they are dealing with multiple injuries/lack of production throughout training camp.
The Bills are going to need to hope that everything clicks by the time Week 1 comes around when they take on the Arizona Cardinals.
