Bold Prediction Number 2: The New York Jets' defense will carry the team
All of the talk this offseason, in New York, has been about the team trading for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The offense should be incredible, right? You add Rodgers to a team featuring the youthful, up-and-coming Garrett Wilson, along with Breece Hall and a few others, and you'd expect that offense to take off.
However, the truth of the matter is, Rodgers took a step backwards last season. We saw him throw the most picks he's had in nearly a decade and a half. Hall is coming back from an ACL tear, which means he could come back slower than we think. Sure, Wilson is great, but Rodgers has to get him the ball accurately, and he wasn't always accurate last season.
There were times when Rodgers looked off, and in a big way. There were also times where he looked locked in, which will happen this season, no doubt. But, the strength of this Jets team is going to be within that defense, not the offense.
I boldly predict the Jets' offense will finish between 12th and 18th this coming season, meanwhile their defense is easily a top-10, if not top-5 unit.
