Bills wheel and deal in first two rounds in final 7-round mock draft
R4:128 - Brenden Rice - Wide receiver, USC
Why not add the son of the greatest wide receiver in NFL history to the Bills roster? Sure, genetics aren't a guarantee, but it's Jerry Rice's son. He's also 6'2" and weighs over 200 pounds, so he provides the more "prototypical" traits some expect from a boundary receiver. 2023 was Rice's most productive with 45 receptions and 791 yards but found the endzone 12 times. More than a quarter of his receptions went for touchdowns. He was credited with only two drops last season as well.
Rice ran an official 40-time of 4.5, but a much better 10-yard split time of 1.55, which falls more into the "great" range than Franklin's time. Rice may struggle more against press coverage at the NFL level due to questionable foot quickness; however, he is a physical receiver and will battle to get open. He'll work hard to get open, whether in scramble drills or contested catches. As I said, genetics don't guarantee success, but a high upside is there with Rice.
