The Buffalo Bills needed some depth at edge, with questions surrounding Von Miller, AJ Epenesa, and Gregory Rousseau. I was somewhat surprised to see they waited until the fifth round to address this need, but I think they got a potentially good one in Javon Solomon. His sack production is outstanding and scouts often say that sack production typically translates well to the next level. He's 6'2" and weighs 246 pounds. He could factor in as a decent rotation piece.

The Bills continue to feel needs and so far through seven selections, four have been on the defensive side, including all three levels of the defense. Solomon is the second defensive lineman drafted by the Buffalo Bills, joining fellow draftee DeWayne Carter. Here is what Bills Mafia had to say about the addition of Javon Solomon to the Bills roster.

Solomon displays excellent speed off the edge and does quit. Does a terrific job of keeping his hands moving and not allowing blockers to get set and put their hands on him.

Solomon's sack production in college was unreal. These sack numbers include a whopping 16 sacks in 2023. Will this production translate into production at the NFL level? He'll have the opportunity to learn behind one of the league's all-time great pass rushers in Von Miller.

As I said, Solomon is coming into a great situation with the opportunity to learn from one of the best to do it There isn't much better to model your game after the Von Miller.

The numbers are through the roof and it seems that Brandon Beane is putting emphasis on production from this year's draft class, and Solomon is no different. Time will tell if these numbers translate to the NFL.
