2) New England Patriots

Kyle Dugger, Adrian Phillips, Jabrill Peppers, Jalen Mills

This is a perfect example of the sum being greater than the parts as the safety room for the New England Patriots is an excellent group because of how well the players complement each other. At the top of the depth chart are Kyle Dugger and Adrian Phillips and these two players are interchangeable, similar to how the Buffalo Bills use Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer.

The two safeties can change their responsibilities on a play-by-play basis as both can line up in the box but also drop back deep in coverage. Neither is necessarily a weakness for these two and it makes the Patriots defense a little tougher to diagnose.

After those two is Jabrill Peppers and Jalen Mills, who also are versatile players in their own right. Peppers is a former first round pick that can be lined up all over the field as he can also play some nickel corner. As for Millers, he is a former cornerback that has moved to safety but also can play some nickel when needed.
