Since Tom Brady left the AFC East and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Buffalo Bills have always had a clear-cut advantage at quarterback with Josh Allen over their division rivals. However, that gap has shrunk considerably with some of the new additions along with quarterbacks taking that next step this past season.

Entering 2023, will Josh Allen hold onto that top spot? These are the rankings for the quarterbacks in the AFC East entering the 2023 season.

4) Mac Jones

Mac Jones was a first round pick by the New England Patriots in 2021 and would take the starting job from Cam Newton as a rookie. He looked set to bring some long-term stability to the position. As a rookie, he would help the Patriots get to a 10-7 record and make the playoffs.

However, last season Jones seemingly took a step backward as his stats regressed almost entirely across the board. However, the struggles of Jones might not have been his own doing as the Patriots didn't have much of an offensive gameplan entering the season with some kind of shared playcalling between Matt Patricia and Joe Judge.

They have tried to correct that this season by hiring Bill O'Brien and the hope is the veteran play caller can help get Mac Jones back on track. However, if he struggles it would not be surprising to see Bailey Zappe, who played well when Jones was out with an injury last season, step in as the starter at some point this season.
