AFC East quarterbacks ranked from worst to first in 2024

4.) Drake Maye/Jacoby Brissett
This is the most expected pick on this list. The Patriots made the clear-cut right choice by trading away Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.
Bill Belichick officially stepped down as the head coach as well, leading the way for Jerod Mayo to take over as New England’s new head coach. In free agency, the Patriots brought back one of their draft picks from the 2016 NFL Draft in quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Since his first departure from the Patriots, Brissett has spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns and Washington Commanders. Brissett is a quality backup, but there is a reason why he is not 17-game starter material.
Then in this year’s NFL Draft, the Patriots would go ahead and select North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the third overall pick. He has a high ceiling, but he also has the biggest bust potential amongst all the quarterbacks taken in this draft. As of right now, we don’t know what to expect from the Patriots’ quarterback play or who will even be the starter in Week 1. With that, the Patriots have the worst quarterback situation heading into 2024.
