The AFC East is home to some of the best wide receivers in the NFL like Buffalo Bills' wide receiver Stefon Diggs, New York Jets' Garrett Wilson, and Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It is important for defenses in the division to have the cornerbacks to match up against some of these wide receivers.

However, some teams are going to be struggling more than most and these are the rankings of the cornerback rooms in the AFC East.

4. New England Patriots

Jack Jones, Jonathan Jones, Christian Gonzalez, Shaun Wade, Marcus Jones

The New England Patriots have historically been one of the better pass defenses in the NFL with players like Stephon Gilmore. However, that isn't necessarily the case at least for this season.

The cornerback position is led by Jonathan Jones, who is in his eighth season with the Patriots but last year was his first as a full-time starter. He is a player who could play inside or outside cornerback and where he plays is likely determined by Jack Jones.

Jack Jones played well as a rookie but could be suspended due to some off-the-field issues this offseason. If he is able to play he should be a starter this season but the player who could impact these rankings the most is Christian Gonzalez. He was a first round pick by the Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft and could end up being the best cornerback in the entire draft.

If Gonzalez is able to make an immediate impact, then the Patriots could move up these rankings.
