Shelby Harris

Along with drafting an IDL in the 1st 2 days, the Bills still need depth at that position. Considering the Bills are seemingly moving off of Tim Settle and Jordan Phillips, I fully expect another vet signing. Shelby Harris' best days are behind him, but he still has enough in the tank to make an impact.

He fits mostly as a run stuffer, which the Bills could use, but he could provide some pass rush ability. He was great as a rotational piece in Cleveland last year under former Bills DC Jim Schwartz, and that Cleveland defense was a major part of their success in making the playoffs in 2023.

A.J. Epenesa

There were some questions on which free agent the Bills could bring back, whether it was A.J. Epenesa or Daquan Jones. I feel they could bring both back, which would be another defensive line question answered.

A.J. had played his best two seasons these past two years with the Bills, but I feel there is another part of A.J.'s game that can be unlocked with this defense, especially if he is given more snaps. His snap percentage went down this past year compared to 2022 (36.3% in 2023, 38.6% in 2022) along with playing one less game, but he produced more. He had the same amount of sacks (6.5) 4 more tackles, both solo and combined, 1 less forced fumble and 2 interceptions in 2023 compared to none in 2022. This would fit Beane's philosophy with drafting, developing, and re-signing.
