Ty Johnson vs. Ray Davis

The Buffalo Bills have their top running back in James Cook but will spend most of the summer looking for that player who can share the workload as that second option out of the backfield. The depth chart battle really comes down to veteran Ty Johnson and rookie Ray Davis.

Johnson had a slow start to last season but once Joe Brady took over as offensive coordinator, his role only grew. By the end of the year, he was the clear backup to Cook and ahead of Latavius Murray. The Bills brought him back on a one-year deal and he is a dual-threat player out of the backfield.

Meanwhile, Ray Davis brings a similar skillset to the position but with a little bigger but more compact frame as he is a little shorter than Johnson but weighs more. He can run between the tackles better and be more of the power-back compliment to James Cook's elusiveness.

Similar to a majority of these depth chart battles, nothing will be decided this week but whoever looks better could end up entering training camp higher on the depth chart.
