Damar Hamlin vs. Cole Bishop

Through the entirety of OTAs, free agent signing Mike Edwards has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury. If Edwards is not able to participate then it will be between Damar Hamlin and Cole Bishop in terms of who starts next to Taylor Rapp.

Once training camp rolls around, assuming Edwards is over his shoulder injury, then it should be the veteran starting next to Rapp. The next depth chart battle will be who is the safety after these two and that will come down to Hamlin and Bishop. This week of minicamp could decide who enters training camp third on the depth chart.

It is an interesting battle as Hamlin has the experience in this defense and in 2022 was a starter for the majority of the year after Micah Hyde's injury. He certainly could step back into that role if needed while Bishop has the higher upside and could also make an immediate impact.

This is a position battle that will probably play out all the way through preseason with no clear winner until the season begins.
