Matt Barkley

Entering this game, the focus was primarily on Kyle Allen as he would get the start and play the first half with Josh Allen sitting. It was very up and down for Allen as he would be sacked twice and throw an interception but also seemed to bounce back after some of these bad plays to make incredible throws.

However, there is no denying that the best quarterback on the field for the Buffalo Bills was Matt Barkley. The veteran would complete 14 of 15 pass attempts for 172 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Barkley looked very comfortable running this offense and it at least opens the door for a potential discussion of who should back up Josh Allen. It is worth noting that Kyle Allen was against starters and second string while Barkley played against the Colts' third string defense but it wouldn't be surprising to see Barkley be the second quarterback for next week's preseason game to see how he does.
