1.) Drake Maye/Jacoby Brissett
This should be the easiest matchup for the Bills in 2024. The New England Patriots are rebuilding with a new head coach in Jerod Mayo and a new quarterback room.
Mac Jones is out of the division, sadly, and the Patriots went ahead and drafted North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the third overall pick. The Patriots are officially no longer in an era that has Tom Brady or Bill Belichick. With that, they will be looking to build up from the ground again. This is the perfect matchup for the Bills’ defense.
Jacoby Brissett is a solid backup, but there is a reason why he is not a 17-game starter unless an injury were to occur. When it comes to Maye, he has a strong arm and can provide an “it factor” down the road. However, his game also has the biggest potential to bust.
In an offense where the Patriots have one of the worst receiving groups in the league, there is not a ton for Maye to work with. The Bills need to capitalize on the mismatch and provide a “welcome to the NFL” moment for Maye twice this season.
