Spencer Brown must become an asset, not a liability

I've been a Brown fan since his rookie year. I love his size, mentality, and athleticism. He has all the traits to be a good right tackle but so far, it's been hit or miss with him. In his rookie year, he showed flashes and promise but regressed last year. Some of that can be chalked up to the early season back injury but this year, there are no excuses.

Last week Brown committed one penalty and gave up a sack, but he allowed five total pressures. No question that the Jets have one of the better defensive fronts in the league, but he won't get a break this week as he'll be facing another team with a very good front as well. The Raiders can get after quarterbacks, led by Maxx Crosby.

Crosby brings a non-stop motor to the game and does not stop until he's completed his mission, which is hitting the quarterback as much as he possibly can. The Bills will have their hands full this week, and the whole line, not just Brown, will need to step up and protect Allen.
