Kaiir Elam is battling for that CB2 spot

When training camp initially opened, it was Dane Jackson in the CB2 spot opposite Tre’Davious White but both Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford were rotated in later as well.  If you remember, Benford beat out Elam last year and ultimately got the start; however, Coach McDermott would often rotate the two during games.

It wasn’t until Benford was injured and missed the remainder of the season that Elam began to really see his playing time increase, even with White back on the field and Jackson hanging around.  Many fans saw Elam beginning to look like what a first-round corner should look like.

Benford had a nice start to camp and Beane mentioned Benford during a press conference, stating Benford just has football instincts, something you can’t coach.  But since that time, it’s been Elam that seems to be pulling ahead.  He’s had a great camp as of late and seems to be taking over the CB2 role, which is great to see.

If Elam can secure that role opposite White, who by the way has been looking like his old self, the Bills could potentially have two legit lockdown corners, which would be massive given the struggles of the secondary a season ago with all the injuries and slow development.
