Buffalo Bills lose crucial depth at cornerback

The trade that the Cardinals and Eagles eventually agreed upon included a 2022 fifth round pick and cornerback Tay Gowan. If the Bills were to offer a similar package the likely cornerback the Bills would have traded would have been Dane Jackson, with Levi Wallace and Tre’Davious White as the starters.

At the time, if Buffalo traded during the offseason or at the trade deadline, this wouldn’t have been a big concern because Jackson was a backup at cornerback.

However, if the trade was completed, it would have been a significant issue later in the season as Tre’Davious White would suffer a torn ACL on Thanksgiving that season. It was Jackson who stepped into the starting lineup and be the starter for the remainder of the season.

If the team didn’t have Jackson, they would have either had to sign a free agent still available or look to someone like Cam Lewis to replace Tre’Davious White.
