5.) The Bills defensive line caused havoc

If there is one unit that looked great in the team’s first game, it is the defensive line and it was not close. The Colts only managed to put up 96 total rushing yards off of 31 carries and only averaged 3.1 yards per run. They also helped stop the Colts’ offense on both fourth-down conversions.

Not only were they able to slow down the run, but they also created pressure on both Anthony Richardson and Gardner Minshew which resulted in incomplete passes and even a turnover that help set the Bills’ offense up for a touchdown. 

One of the defensive tackles that stood out was Tim Settle, who recorded a sack himself and even helped Boogie Basham record a sack by creating pressure, per Matthew Bove. Even when the Colts’ starting offensive line was out on the field, the defensive line for Buffalo seemed to be more in control than anything. Moving forward, this unit will be a fun one to watch if this performance was a season preview.
