Marquise Brown

The final player that the Buffalo Bills were wise to stay away from was wide receiver Marquise Brown. The former first round pick seemingly would address a major need as he has great speed and can stretch the field, which is an area the Bills offense has struggled.

In free agency, Brown got a reasonable contract from the Kansas City Chiefs that was just a one-year deal worth $7 million. It appears to be a perfect landing spot for Brown and it wouldn't be surprising to see him finally have that breakout season.

The reason it doesn't make sense for the Bills is that he would probably expect to be a starting wide receiver wherever he played this season and the team shouldn't make that commitment based on his production to this point.

In five seasons, he has had only one season with over 800 receiving yards while getting 100 or more targets in each of the past four seasons. He also has played with good quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray so it hasn't been an issue of the talent of the quarterback.

At the end of the season, Marquise Brown could look like one of the best free agent signings based on production and contract. The Buffalo Bills unfortunately couldn't take that risk and need a player with upside but more production.
