4.) Christian Benford - Cornerback
In a competition for the second starting cornerback position, Christian Benford has been part of the mix. Last season, Benford was part of a rotation not just for rest but because of injuries as well at the corner spot.
There were times when Benford and Dane Jackson replaced first-round pick Kaiir Elam. For this season now that Tre’Davious White is back in the lineup, the Bills’ coaching staff are looking to solidify the other corner spot.
According to Alex Brasky, Benford was a standout player in the Bills’ Sunday practice where he intercepted two passes during team drills. Aside from having two interceptions, Thad Brown also mentioned that Benford also had the most reps with the first-team defense and he was able to capitalize on his opportunities.
It seems like Benford is heating up at the right time before the Bills’ first preseason game. As the battle for the second corner spot continues on, keep an eye out on Benford specifically out of the other corners, including Elam.
