5 Buffalo Bills under the most pressure in 2024 after Stefon Diggs trade
Curtis Samuel
The next player is Curtis Samuel, who the Bills signed as a free agent this offseason to a three-year deal. Samuel is a former second round pick of the Carolina Panthers and recently spent the past four seasons with the Washington Commanders.
A number of the Buffalo Bills organization knows Curtis Samuel as Brandon Beane was still with the Panthers' front office when they drafted him in the 2017 NFL Draft. In addition, Joe Brady was his offensive coordinator in 2020 and Samuel had his best season of his career with over 850 receiving yards and 75 receptions.
At the time of the signing, it seemed like this was a perfect fit as Samuel could step in as that number two wide receiver behind Stefon Diggs. It would keep defenses honest and not let them focus as much attention on Diggs.
However, Curtis Samuel is now the veteran of the position and will be looked to lead a young group. In addition to the rookie wide receiver the Bills are expected to draft, they have Khalil Shakir, Mack Hollins, Andy Isabella, and KJ Hamler. It is very inexperienced group and Curtis Samuel will now need to be the leader with Stefon Diggs no longer on the roster.
