3.) Linebacker - A.J. Klein

This might surprise some as Klein has been a McDermott type of player since they were in Carolina together when McDermott was the defensive coordinator for the Panthers. Klein was in Buffalo in 2020 and 2021, before being released and eventually signing back with the Bills.

With the departure of Tremaine Edmunds, the middle linebacker spot is arguably the most vulnerable position in this Bills' defense. Klein does know the system that McDermott has set in place, but there are younger guys who have been drafted in the last year or two that could eventually become the new quarterback of the defense.

The Bills drafted linebacker Terrell Bernard last year in the third round and just drafted linebacker Dorian Williams in the third round this year. McDermott is all about development which could put Klein on the cut list if the young guys make a solid impression in minicamp. While Klein would be a good mentor, it’s hard to believe that Klein is on the roster if he is not the starter.
