Buffalo Bills agree to contract extension with Ed Oliver

The Buffalo Bills not bringing in an established starting middle linebacker may have been the biggest surprise but the second biggest surprise probably was the contract extension for Ed Oliver. The former Top 10 pick agreed to a four-year extension worth $68 million with over $45 million guaranteed with the Bills.

He is now in the Top 10 in terms of average salaries among defensive tackles but through the first four seasons in the NFL, it is hard to justify that contract with his production. However, Brandon Beane knew something that no one else did because he agreed to this contract at the perfect time.

Ed Oliver has been playing great through the first four games of the 2023 season and already has three sacks and seven QB hits. If he continues this trend over the entire season, he will finish with over 12 sacks and 28 QB hits, which would be at least double the previous career highs for a season.

If Ed Oliver continues to play at this level, alongside Greg Rousseau, Von Miller Leonard Floyd, and DaQuan Jones, this front is going to be a problem all season for offensive lines.
