The Buffalo Bills are in unusual territory through the first eight weeks of the season. Even though they have a 5-3 record, they have not been playing their best football the last month. If you take out Weeks 2-4, the Bills have either suffered an ugly loss or barely hung on for the win.
Their last two victories over the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have come down to last second passing play in which both were questionable no-call plays. While those games have worked out in favor of the Bills, the three losses against the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots have put the Bills in a predicament going into the November stretch of the schedule.
It also does not help that the Bills are trying to get by on the defensive side due to injuries at all three levels of the defense. Buffalo is lucky to be at 5-3 considering the injuries and poor performance the last month of the season.
At the halfway point of the season, the Bills have had high highs and low lows. With the low lows, they have come at more of a recent point and the Bills need to correct the necessary mistakes if they want to make the playoffs, let alone win the division that the Miami Dolphins are in control of by one game.
