Nyheim Hines

The Buffalo Bills run game was improved this season mostly due to James Cook but the offense got productive snaps from Latavius Murray and Ty Johnson. One of the reasons they needed these veterans to log more snaps was Nyheim Hines suffered a torn ACL during the offseason.

The Bills traded for Hines during the 2021 season but he primarily was used on special teams in the second half of that season. Entering this past year, it looked like he was ready to take on more of a role as a pass-catching back for the offense.

Hines is under contract for one more year but has a cap hit of almost $5.5 million, however there is only a $500,000 dead cap penalty if he is released. It wouldn't be surprising to see the team consider releasing Hines but with James Cook being the only other running back under contract for 2024, the front office might try to find a way to keep Hines as that number two back.
