Damar Hamlin

For the first time since the 2016 season, the final season with Rex Ryan as head coach, the Bills are likely to not have their starting safeties be Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. This offseason, Hyde is set to be a free agent and hinted at the possibility of retirement while Poyer could be a player released to create some cap space.

With these changes, along with Taylor Rapp being a free agent, the Bills only have one safety under contract for the 2024 season. That is Damar Hamlin, who was a backup for most of the season and only appeared in five games.

However, in 2022 he did start 13 games in place of Micah Hyde who spent almost the entire season on injured reserve. In that season, he had 91 total tackles, two passes defended and one forced fumble.
