3.) How will the second cornerback position play out before regular season?

As the Bills’ cornerback position battle between Dane Jackson, Christian Benford and Kaiir Elam continues, there is reason to believe that there is a current leader in that competition. In the Bills’ first preseason game, it was Jackson who got the first drive with the first team defense.

Just three plays into the game, Jackson picked off Anthony Richardson and helped set the offense up for the first touchdown of the game. Jackson then came off the field for the rest of the game. Both Benford and Elam then took the rest of the reps in the first half. There was not a ton of action that went towards Benford’s way and Elam seemed to struggle in zone coverage, and both players were penalized as well. 

Going into their week two preseason game, it will be interesting to see if this setup will continue or if Benford or Elam get the nod to start the game on Saturday. There is reason to believe that Jackson has the current lead in the second cornerback spot and it is his to lose.
