Who emerges as the starting middle linebacker?

Another position battle seemingly impacted by injury is at middle linebacker. The Buffalo Bills haven't had a player emerge as the clear-cut favorite to replace Tremaine Edmunds with Tyrel Dodson and A.J. Klein not really impressing through the first two preseason games.

If everything remains the same then Klein should be the favorite due to his experience in Sean McDermott's defense but one player who hopefully factors into the discussion is Terrel Bernard. Last year's third round pick has been dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the first two preseason games and with him still not practicing, it seems likely he won't be on the field against the Bears.

This game presents a bigger opportunity for Dodson and Klein. With how close the performance has been to this point, this game could be the deciding factor but it is worth watching when each linebacker plays. If Dodson or Klein is playing late into the game it could be a clue that the other linebacker is the favorite to be the starter.
