Just how deep and talented is the Bills wide receiver group?
The Bills returned just three receivers from last year's team, Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, and Khalil Shakir. Of those three, only Diggs is pretty much a sure thing heading into the regular season. The additions of Deonte Harty, Trent Sherfield, and rookie Justin Shorter are unknowns too.
I don't know what to expect from this group with three new faces and Shakir didn't stand out in the preseason. Davis looked great throughout the preseason and practices and was voted by his teammates for a team captain role. He had six targets in the preseason games and was credited with only one drop. If that is the consistency we get from him, he could have a huge season.
Buffalo will need this group to step up more than they did last season. We saw flashes from both Shakir and Davis a season ago but too many inconsistencies plagued the Bills offense and their passing game. What will Sherfield and Harty bring to the offense? This group, outside of Diggs, has a few things to prove this season.
