Buffalo Bills get their bye week later in the season

One of the first things most teams are going to look at is when they are going to have their bye week each season. Most teams are hoping that it is somewhere in the middle or later in the season to help manage the toll the season takes and try to manage any injuries heading into the end of the season and hopefully the playoffs.

For the Buffalo Bills, they have been pretty fortunate in terms of their bye week, and in each of the past five seasons their bye week has been Week 7 or later in the season. If they once again get a bye week in the second half of the season it would be a big boost for the team.

Limit the impact of short weeks where possible

The Buffalo Bills are expected to have a number of prime time games and this could mean games on Monday Night Football or Thursday Night Football. It certainly is a good thing that the Bills are highlighted as much as they have been by the NFL because it is reflective of how good they are.

However, it creates challenges for the players and coaches to try to keep a routine during the season. There are certainly ways that the NFL can help the Buffalo Bills manage these short weeks based on how they set up the schedule.

If the Buffalo Bills have a game on Monday Night Football, having the next week being a bye or at the very least a home game will help. Similarly that bye week could be valuable in front of a game on Thursday night to give them time to prepare.
