Running Back

The final position that the Buffalo Bills may double dip during the 2024 NFL Draft is at running back. It is a position that they can wait until Day 3 but with eight picks, it is not that far-fetched to believe two of them could be used on the position.

It is not a pressing need as the Bills do have James Cook to lead the backfield. He showed last season that he can be the lead back and handle a majority of the workload.

In addition to Cook, the Bills brought back Ty Johnson who did a good job as the backup to the former Georgia Bulldog running back. He can be effective with 10 or so touches a game but the Buffalo Bills could use some size at the position.

The Bills could use a running back for those tough yards near the goal line to keep a drive alive on 3rd and 1. In the past, this has been Josh Allen but if they want to limit the hits another running back makes sense.

The reason that the Bills may want to add another running back is that the fourth running back could be depth for the position but also be a key contributor on special teams. Currently, there is not a clear answer on who will return kicks and this could be something that second running back picked could address.
